It'll be some time till we see a The Last of Us HBO trailer, as filming for The Last of Us show begins in July. Given the format of small screen action/drama shows, the team working on The Last of Us series can pace the show similar to the video game and not have to rely on large-scale action sequences.

But where the video game movie failed, The Last of Us series HBO seems poised to succeed. It's a shame we never got The Last of Us movie. Speaking on the Script Apart podcast, Neil Druckmann said that they were given notes to make the set pieces on The Last of Us movie bigger, which ultimately led to the downfall of The Last of Us franchise as a film. While we have The Last of Us HBO series to look forward to, Naughty Dog's The Last of Us game director Neil Druckmann (The Last of Us, The Last of Us 2) offered some insight on why The Last of Us movie never happened. And they've got the support of Korean game publisher Smilegate, which infused the company with a $100-million-dollar investment. And finally, veterans of The Last of Us, Destiny, God of War, and other big AAA franchises have banded together to form a new game development company, That's No Moon Studios. Well, hopefully most of those units aren't going to scalpers. That's great news, and also partly explains why they're so hard to find: every unit made is sold. And speaking of PlayStation and Xbox, both companies have been posting record sales for their hardware in recent months.

For PlayStation Plus subscribers, you can download Hunter's Arena: Legends, Plants vs. On Xbox Games with Gold, you're getting Darksiders III, Yooka-Laylee, Lost Planet 3, and Garou: Mark of the Wolves (which gamers in-the-know will know that it's part of the Fatal Fury series). In today's episode, both PlayStation and Microsoft have revealed the free games you're getting if you subscriber to either company's online platforms. Thanks to World of Longplays for allowing us to use their footage! Unfortunately, that means we couldn't include some third-party favorites like Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy 7, and Bloodborne, even though they are fantastic games and foundational to the success of the platform. This was a MASSIVE list of games we had to whittle down, so we decided to stick with first-party. From early series like Ratchet and Clank, to blockbuster franchises like Uncharted and newcomers like Ghost of Tsushima, Sony has built a stable of truly great games. And they did much of it all on the backs of their great first-party games. Now, 25-plus years later, the PlayStation is a household name and has solidified its place as one of the dominant gaming platforms in history. When the first PlayStation launched in the mid-90's, Sony was a newcomer in the video game industry.
